ORGANIC INPUTS / PRODUCT CLAIMS
Check the individual product before trusting an organic claim.
Advanced Nutrients makes several types of fertilizer. A product being marketed for cannabis—or even having a label that says “organic”—does not automatically make a particular crop organically certified. Third-party input review and state registration address the suitability of an input, not the certification of the harvest.
Review of named fertilizer or pest-control products against specific organic standards and restrictions.
State review for fertilizing materials distributed as appropriate for organic production.
Neither designation alone verifies that a finished cannabis harvest is certified organic.
01 / Independent input review
What does “OMRI Listed” actually mean?
The Organic Materials Review Institute reviews named input products for use under specified organic-production standards. OMRI listing is not organic crop certification, an endorsement of product performance, or blanket approval for every use. Verify the exact product, current listing, restrictions and intended standard before relying on the seal.
02 / California input registration
How is California's OIM program different?
The California Department of Food and Agriculture registers fertilizing materials represented for use in organic production through its Organic Input Material program. It reviews product labels and compliance with relevant state rules and USDA National Organic Program input standards. It does not issue a blanket finding that a company's entire catalog or a finished cannabis crop is “certified organic.”
California requires qualifying organic input materials distributed in the state to be registered. A label, formulation, or registration status can change; verify the precise product rather than relying on a manufacturer's broad statement.
03 / Read before purchasing
Three checks for any fertilizer with an organic claim
Match the exact name
Find the current product and variant in the relevant OMRI or CDFA registry. A different formula from the same brand is not a substitute.
Read use restrictions
Check the allowed crop, growing medium, application method, label directions and any restrictions on the actual listing.
Separate input from outcome
Organic-input eligibility says nothing by itself about yield, flower potency, heavy-metal safety or certification of the crop.
