Always choose mothers from plants that have a high calyx-to-leaf ratio, which allows for more clones to be taken off of each branch. Its very important to know what strain you are working with when growing marijuana mother plants, as you will need to know the average life span of that specific strain, if not, you will end up growing your mother plants too long which will result in weak clones.

Lighting for Mother Plants

Growing Marijuana Mother Plants requires the proper lighting, or else you will end up giving them too much light causing burn, over growth, and nutrient deficiencies. On the other hand, not giving your mother plants enough light will result in weak, skinny branches that create weak clones. I personally have found a method for using grow lights to grow my mother plants that works perfectly. I take my rooted clones from the clone machine that have been under fluorescent lights and transfer them to grow buckets with hydroton rocks, this is the best way to grow mother plants for cloning.
