Job Summary

Responsible for creating community awareness regarding the health consequences of substance use and abuse specific to the state’s three prevention priorities of alcohol (underage drinking), marijuana, and prescription drug abuse across the lifespan. Maximize resources through community mobilization efforts to change community norms and increase citizen participation and commitment among all sectors of the community towards reducing substance use and abuse. Provide prevention presentations and awareness to the community in support of program services. Encourage mobilization, change social norms in communities to prevent and reduce substance use and abuse.

Required Education And Work Experience
Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Education, Sociology or related field; Have designation of CPS or APS and working towards the CPS certification within 12 months of employment. 2-4 Years Experience Any combination of education and experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.
Essential Functions

Communicate with Program Director and coordinating program activities with community stakeholders, as job requires. To include education presentation, attend general staff meetings; representing and speaking before public and in the private sector.
To create community awareness regarding the health consequences of substance use and abuse specific to the state’s three prevention priorities of alcohol (underage drinking), marijuana, and prescription drug abuse across the lifespan. Increase citizen participation and commitment. To increase citizen participation and commitment among all sectors of the community towards reducing substance use and abuse. Documenting attendance and participation in a timely manner in compliance with agency policies and procedures, including documentation of services provided and documentation of coalition meetings, progress and follow-up reports and other timely status and compliance reports as requested by the Program Director. Providing information about intervention of drug, alcohol and tobacco use; keeping current to literature and development s in the field. Implement and become familiar with key measures for reporting purposes, and maintain appropriate CSAP strategies pertaining to program design. Maximize resources through community mobilization efforts to change community norms and increase awareness and support for substance abuse prevention and treatment services. Prepares and maintains records as required and administer consent forms and participant files on a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned or designated by Supervisory or Executive Staff.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the ability to move throughout the community and occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Have knowledge of the agency’s programs in order to refer individuals who seek information. Maintain working knowledge of personnel and company policy and procedures. Ability to express self, in English, in a clear, concise, understandable manner, both orally and in writing. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
