Role DescriptionPura Vida is seeking an operations professional to take ownership of a variety of trade operations and/or fund accounting production tasks, commensurate with experience. This role will work closely with our Controller and Head of Equities. Responsibilities include an assortment of daily and periodic tasks, as well as identification and execution of longer-term projects intended to mitigate risk, increase efficiency, and pursue initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesBelow are examples of responsibilities that would be expected of this role. Final determination of certain tasks will be dependent on candidate’s experience and abilities. Candidate will be expected to document procedures for tasks as part of the training process and then maintain such procedures going forward as changes arise.Trade Operations• Facilitate all trade operation workflows including communication of trades to counterparties and recordkeepers, monitoring of client accounts’ reconciliations, and timely resolution of breaks.• Maintain order management system including ensuring completeness and accuracy of underlying security master and holdings, broker commission schedules, and knowledge/process documents. Lead relationship with OMS provider and ensure improvement initiatives are resolved timely and sufficiently.• Assist with obtaining financing for trading activity and/or booking trades as Head of Equities may require from time to time.• Set up new executing brokers and complete ongoing diligence requests thereafter.• Monitor margin requirements at prime brokers and provide morning cash management projections to firm’s owner and lead portfolio manager.• Monitor client portfolios’ compliance with investment guidelines and/or compliance rules and propose corrective action as necessary.Fund Accounting• Lead relationship with the fund administrator. Review month-end net asset valuations, including ensuring completeness and accuracy of hard-to-price securities, investor allocations, and management/performance fees as well as timely review/delivery of investor statements.• Process operating expense invoices in accordance with allocation policies and facilitate payment.• Assist with facilitation of annual audit, tax, and regulatory filings.
Desired Skills/ExperienceBuy-side financial services operations experience, preferably 6 – 10 years, and a B.S. or B.A. Required skills include: exceptional attention to detail; ability to apply feedback received to future situations; ability to communicate in a timely and respectful manner with clients and counterparties; and ability and willingness to work independently, multi-task and prioritize, and perform thorough self-reviews over work. Positivity and enthusiasm expected. Experience using Excel macros, EZE Castle Order Management System, and/or Bloomberg preferred. Public accounting experience and/or understanding of how to design and maintain effective internal control environments is a plus.
