Title: Human Resources Director Classification: Exempt Reports to: Chief People Officer (CPO) Direct Reports: 2 Overview: The Human Resources Director is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of all Human Resources strategy and functions including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, employment policies and compliance, compensation, and benefits. Nectar Cannabis is primarily a retail company establishing, supplying and operating multiple stores. It is a growing company that has been served by one HR person. The HR Director will build, manage, and oversee a full HR capable of handling 400+ employees. ResponsibilitiesDevelops and manages all human resources programs, systems, processes and procedures in keeping with our strengths-based organization culture which utilizes Birkman Assessment and other tools to facilitate hiring, placement, onboarding, managing, team building and performance mgmt. Participates in developing department goals and objectives. Evaluates and reports on decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. Must be able to comfortably advise and work with the CPO and the CEO on initiatives and issues.Develops, recommends and implements employment policies and procedures; prepares and maintains handbook and other compliance documents.Supports the performance evaluation program developed by the CPO, including process, tools and training.Develops and manages the compensation program, analyzing salary surveys, implementing salary structures; and formalizing/communicating how compensation ties to performance management. May need a specialist for this.Performs benefits administration including enrollments, changes, escalations/issue management, reporting and benefits awareness training/documentation. Manages recruiting efforts including writing external job descriptions and placing job postings; working with managers to screen and interview candidates; conducting reference checks and extending job offers.Develops and manages new employee onboarding programs as well as all exit/termination processes.Manages employee relations for the company including counseling for employees and coaching on performance issues.Develops and delivers employee training programs for HR compliance issues.Manages HR Admin who establishes and maintains department records and reports. Maintains organizational charts and employee directory. Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws, especially compliance with OLCC regulations. RequirementsA bachelor’s degree and 8 to 10 years of HR experience across all the HR functions. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification preferred. Excellent organizational skills.Top-notch written skills.A communication pro – can communicate effectively with all levels employees and all types of personalities, in both group and individual settings.Demonstrated ability to lead HR strategyTrust builder – builds trust across the organization and with senior leadership.Excellent MS Office skills –Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Tech savvy overall.Strong training skills – ability to explain complicated subjects in simple to understand terms in live training, videoconference and written training documents.A passion for or at least some tie to cannabis industry. Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May require extra hours. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Travel Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
