Use the result as a scenario, not a black box
Wet plant material contains substantial water. As moisture is removed, the scale weight drops. This calculator is useful for forecasting, labor planning and comparing actual results against previous batches as long as you treat the retained percentage as an assumption rather than a guaranteed conversion factor.
How the math works
Estimated dry weight = wet weight × retained percentage. Weight lost = wet weight − estimated dry weight. Dry ounces = dry pounds × 16.
Example
A 20-pound wet harvest with a 25% retained-weight assumption produces a planning estimate of 5 dry pounds, or 80 ounces. The modeled weight reduction is 15 pounds, or 75%.
