What it calculates
Use the result as a scenario, not a black box
Packaging cost is more than the jar or pouch. Labor and batch-level compliance expenses can materially change the real unit cost, especially on small runs. This calculator spreads those costs across the batch so pricing and margin models use a more realistic input.
How the math works
Labor per unit = labor minutes ÷ 60 × hourly wage. Batch allocation per unit = (testing + batch overhead) ÷ units. Total unit cost = materials + label + labor + batch allocation. Batch cost = total unit cost × units.
Example
If materials and labels total $0.83, labor is 1.5 minutes at $20/hour, and $850 of batch-level cost is spread across 2,000 units, total packaging cost is about $1.76 per unit.
