What it calculates
Use the result as a scenario, not a black box
This calculator keeps the two decisions separate: how much of the room is truly usable canopy, and how densely you intend to allocate that canopy. That makes it useful for testing layouts without assuming a particular cultivation method or claiming one spacing number is universally correct.
How the math works
Floor area = length × width. Usable canopy = floor area × (1 − aisle percentage). Reserved work area = floor area − canopy area. Plant positions = floor(canopy area ÷ square feet per plant).
Example
A 24 × 16 foot room has 384 square feet of floor area. Reserving 30% for aisles and work space leaves about 269 square feet of canopy. At four square feet per position, the planning estimate is 67 positions.
