DC Medical Marijuana Card for cannabis patients to grow marijuana and use medical marijuana legally as a medicine. Washington DC approved the use of DC medical marijuana card or MMJ in 2010, allowing patients with HIV, AIDS, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, cancer, other conditions that are chronic, long-lasting, debilitating, or that interfere with the basic functions of life, serious medical conditions for which the use of medical marijuana is beneficial, patients undergoing treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
DC Medical Marijuana Card Application
Although the law for DC medical marijuana card applications and the application process took effect on July 27, 2010, the Mayor and the DC Department of Health have yet to determine how the medical marijuana program will operate. A DC Department of Health spokesperson said, by phone on Jan. 19, 2011 that no announcement has been made regarding when the program will begin. You will want to check with your local DC Health Dept prior to applying for your cannabis card. The District of Columbia has many patients in need of medical cannabis, including a high number of injured veterans in need of medical marijuana.
Laws for DC Medical Marijuana Card
The maximum amount of medical marijuana that any qualifying patient or caregiver may possess at any moment is two ounces of dried medical marijuana. The Mayor may increase the quantity of dried medical marijuana that may be possessed up to four ounces; and shall decide limits on DC medical marijuana card patients to possess of a form other than dried.

I have pancreatic cancer. I am getting radiation and chemotherapy at the same time and it is horrible. I stay in bed all day. Cant eat, throwing up. lost a bunch of weight. I will be here at John Hopkins for treatment for another 2 months. Maryland doesn’t recognize medical marijuana. But Wash DC does and I would take the drive but would they give me the card and weed if I am from another state being treated??
i live in OK and have been to 39 drs on femoral nerve damage in my right groin and thigh,(i now drive from my home in oklahoma to Frisco, TX to see my pain mgt dr once a month), my pcp suggested i move to colorado and give the MMJ a try which could also help me not to have to take all the pills i do. I am seriously considering the move, but would like to find out the rules/laws regarding how to obtain your MMJ card once you have established a residence. Can you please help me or give me sites i can go to in order to find out the procedures for all this? such as, do you have to have a certain time amount of residency before applying? Do you need to have your drs statement and or records showing your medical issues, or a recommendation from your current dr to present to the new dr? i am in great need of this information asap, as i would like to get moved to colorado soon before my pain drives me to do something irrational. When you are in as much pain as i am in and can’t get any help from drs other than the pain pills, that only barely take the edge off..you get very depressed. I have had numerous nerve blocks, facet injections, etc but none have worked and my pain is getting worse. thanks
simply go to your primary care dr and have them refer you to one that will write an mmj script. your present Dr can tell the mmj doctor all of your symptons/issues which will help expedite the process.
